Coordinate occupied spaces

How should a strip-out be phased across several occupied floors?

Plan phases around the shared dependencies between floors, not just the amount of removal on each level. Lifts, loading, retained systems and tenant operations can connect otherwise separate work areas. Each floor needs a defined release and handover condition within the building-wide sequence.

Identify shared constraints first

Ask management which floors use the same lift, service routes and building systems. Record operating areas and planned work by other contractors. The purpose is to reveal dependencies, not to assume that all floors can proceed independently. A change on one level may affect access or assessment information needed elsewhere.

Define a complete phase

State the work boundary, outstanding decisions, material route and receiving condition for each phase. Include who can release the area and who accepts the handover. Avoid describing a phase only as a floor number and a date. A floor containing retained tenant operations may need a different boundary from the floor above.

Review transitions explicitly

Before moving the team or route to another level, confirm which protections, bookings and instructions remain valid. Carry unresolved items forward visibly rather than allowing them to disappear in a building-wide progress report. SiteClear can assess a phased commercial removal proposal when the owner provides the floor boundaries and shared constraints, without promising a standard production rate per floor.

Illustrative office consolidation across floors

A tenant moves staff from an upper floor into retained rooms below. The upper floor is not a complete demolition phase while a communications room still serves the receiving office. Mark that retained room and the shared lift route as dependencies rather than reporting the floor as empty.

Once the tenant and relevant providers resolve the retained operations, management can review the next phase and its receiving condition. This example explains sequencing; it does not promise uninterrupted operations or a standard floor-by-floor duration.
