Prepare trade interfaces

What should be clarified where restaurant removal meets building exhaust systems?

Identify the boundary between the tenant's proposed removal and retained building systems before issuing the strip-out instruction. A restaurant closure does not establish that every duct, support or connection serves only that tenant. The appropriate mechanical and building professionals must resolve that question.

Start with the intended handover

Ask the landlord which components are expected to remain and obtain available system drawings. Record the proposed removal limits and any uncertainty about shared or concealed connections. Photographs help locate questions but cannot verify a system's continuing function. Keep loose equipment clearance separate from decisions about fixed building components.

Assign technical and access responsibilities

Identify who reviews the system, who authorises any isolation or alteration and who can provide access to areas outside the unit. The demolition team needs the accepted instruction and release conditions for its scope. Do not assume that a commercial strip-out service includes specialist cleaning, mechanical disconnection or recommissioning of an exhaust system.

Record the retained interface

At handover, identify what remains, any protected connections and unresolved items passed to the next trade. If the exposed condition differs from the drawing, request direction before extending removal. This guide concerns the landlord/building-system interface rather than restaurant equipment disposal or a claimed specialist restaurant project. SiteClear can assess ordinary removal once the boundaries are defined.
