Plan a residential renovation

Planning interior demolition for an accessible-home renovation

An accessible-home renovation may change one room or a connected route through several rooms. Use the resident's design requirements to map the physical work, without including medical information in a demolition enquiry.

Trace the intended route

Show the entry, circulation, kitchen and bathroom elements involved in the reviewed design. A room-only adaptation may retain most adjoining finishes. A connected renovation can affect doorways, cupboards and floor transitions beyond the main room.

Design extentRemoval question
One bathroomWhich fixtures and finish layers are specified?
Kitchen and circulationWhich cabinetry or reviewed room divisions obstruct the layout?
Connected main floorWhere do new surfaces meet retained rooms and entrances?

Dimensions, structural changes and accessibility suitability belong with the responsible design professionals. Demolition does not certify the completed home or determine funding eligibility.

Illustrative main-floor comparison

One proposal renews a bathroom while retaining the corridor. Another changes the bathroom entrance and selected kitchen cabinetry to support a connected route. The second has additional wall, floor and service interfaces that should appear in the removal list, not be added informally during work.

Mark each retained threshold and surface the next contractor will inspect. The fact that a doorway needs to change in the design does not establish how the surrounding construction can be removed.

Plan the interval before rebuilding

The household and project team determine temporary use and access arrangements. Assign affected services, protection, repairs and new installations to the appropriate parties. Retaining a room in the final plan does not promise it will remain usable throughout construction.

Discuss the selective-removal package

Bring the reviewed layout, retained rooms and builder contact to SiteClear. Describe the required building changes and receiving condition. Clinical advice, structural design and accessibility certification remain outside the ordinary demolition contribution.
