Coordinate building access
What does building security need for a demolition shift handover?
Security needs a current access instruction and an escalation contact, not responsibility for interpreting the demolition scope. Give the security team the agreed work area, access arrangements and end-of-shift handback requirements through the building's approved process.

Separate access permission from scope approval
Identify the authorised organisation and the area it may enter without circulating unnecessary personal details publicly. Ask management how crew identification, escorts and keys are handled. A security officer opening a door should not be expected to decide whether a wall or fixture may be removed. Direct scope questions to the named project contact.
Prepare the change between shifts
Record which doors, lifts or routes remain under the agreed arrangement and which must return to normal operation. If the management contact changes overnight, provide the approved replacement contact. Avoid leaving instructions solely with the person finishing their shift. A concise written handover reduces the chance that the next officer receives an incomplete verbal summary.
Make exceptions visible
If work stops early or an area cannot be handed back as planned, notify the responsible manager and record the revised instruction. Security can receive and apply access directions but should not certify technical completion. Discuss this handover with the commercial removal team before booking after-hours access, especially where the building continues operating around the work.
