Coordinate building access
What needs review if a retained door obstructs the removal route?
Do not assume a retained door can be temporarily removed to make a route work. Identify its ownership, function and reinstatement responsibility, then ask the responsible building team to review the proposal. The route assessment should include the complete opening and its surroundings, not just the nominal door width.

Record the actual obstruction
Photograph the approach and opening with permission, noting turns, thresholds and adjacent retained finishes. Describe the material or item proposed to pass through it. The removal team determines handling suitability; the owner should not invent a method from a measurement alone. Keep the door reference consistent with the access drawing.
Ask about the door's continuing function
Management may need the door for security, separation, accessibility or normal building operations. A qualified reviewer must determine any relevant technical requirements. This planning guide does not authorise altering a fire door or disabling access control. If temporary work is considered, identify who is authorised to perform and check it.
Define the return condition
Confirm who reinstates the door and hardware, who checks operation and what happens if the opening cannot be restored for the intended handback. Include that interface in the agreed package rather than leaving it as an assumed incidental task. A route that depends on unresolved door work is not yet a confirmed route for demolition debris.
