Coordinate building access
Dust and Noise Containment When the Floor Above Is Still Working
Plan containment around the occupants and shared systems before removal starts. A barrier alone does not answer how dust, sound, access and ventilation will be managed.

Describe what remains occupied
Tell the project team which rooms or floors stay in use and which operations need particular coordination. Identify shared corridors, doors and building systems. This information helps the contractor and responsible specialists define the work boundary and protection plan.
Get the material information first
Ontario's guidance explains owners' designated-substance duties and asbestos requirements. Ordinary dust-control measures do not replace a material assessment or applicable asbestos procedures. Ask for the relevant reports before the demolition scope is finalised; do not disturb suspect material to identify it.
Agree how concerns reach the team
Set a contact route for management and occupants, and identify who can stop or change an activity. Record when barriers, shared routes and the work area will be checked. The plan should respond to the actual building rather than promise dust-free or silent demolition.
Questions to record at the planning review
Identify occupied areas adjoining the work boundary.
Record who reviews shared ventilation and separation.
Name the contact who can assess an occupant concern.
