What needs recording beneath an office raised floor before removal?

Ask the responsible building and service teams to identify retained connections, equipment and access needs beneath the raised floor. Empty workstations do not prove the space below them is redundant. The removal plan needs to distinguish floor components from the services and supports around them.

Use a location-based record

Mark the work area, known access points and equipment that must remain. Ask the tenant's service contacts to explain active connections and any limitations in the available information. Do not label unidentified cables or pipework as abandoned. A usable record identifies uncertainty and the person responsible for resolving it.

Clarify the intended floor outcome

Removing panels, removing the support system and preparing a surface for a new use are different scope decisions. Ask the next contractor to state the condition they need to assess their installation. The demolition team should review that request against the observed assembly and retained services before accepting a handover description.

Keep operational release separate

Record who authorises removal around retained equipment and who verifies the relevant services after the phase. If an unrecorded connection appears, pause the affected decision and obtain direction through the project lead. This guide is specific to the coordination record under a raised office floor; it does not provide electrical isolation advice or assert specialist data-centre demolition capability.

Illustrative layered record

Read a raised-floor section in three labelled layers: removable panels at the top, the support arrangement below, and separately identified services within the void. The proposed removal might involve panels alone or a wider reviewed assembly; the service layer needs its responsible providers in either case.

Show retained connections crossing the work boundary and the surface the next contractor expects to receive. This is a conceptual section, not a technical dismantling sequence or evidence that concealed services are redundant.
