Closed clinic refurbishment: ordinary interior removal

A closed clinic can still contain clinical equipment, records, materials and connected systems. An ordinary demolition brief should isolate the reception, partitions, cabinetry and finish layers that can be assessed after the responsible parties resolve those specialist items.

Start with the intended next use

A clinic refit may keep treatment-room divisions while replacing reception and selected finishes. Conversion to a different commercial use may require more partitions to leave. The design team decides the future arrangement; the old room labels do not determine the demolition depth.

Confirm what has actually been released

A locked door or a ceased business is not confirmation that specialist preparation is complete. Request the responsible contacts and a clear boundary for the ordinary building work. Medical gases, shielding, sterilisation, clinical waste and infection-control work are not implied services.

Compare two closed-premises packages

In an illustrative reception renewal, the reviewed treatment rooms remain and the package removes specified front-desk joinery and public-area finishes. In a wider conversion, the relevant specialist work is completed first, then agreed room divisions and ordinary finishes are assessed against the new plan.

Both examples require the actual construction and retained services to be reviewed. Neither offers work around continuing clinical operations or proves that every former treatment-room assembly is ordinary fit-out.

Prepare the handover description

Identify the walls and floors the next contractor will inspect, any unresolved material questions and who authorises scope changes. Bring that information with the current/proposed layouts to SiteClear. Keep patient information out of the initial enquiry; the useful inputs are building scope and the responsible project contacts.

Issue a room-by-room receiving schedule

For a shared-building refit, list reception, each ordinary room and the collection route separately. Reception may be released for its counter removal while a former treatment room still awaits a specialist decision. Keep that room held on the same drawing; do not let a reception handover imply that the whole premises has been cleared for ordinary demolition.

The next installer should know which room surfaces are available for inspection and which remain outside the release. This receiving schedule is distinct from choosing a new clinic layout. Use the existing medical-office review guide to organise the earlier specialist questions, then carry the resolved boundaries into this room-removal package.
