Confirm scope and approvals

What if the building handbook conflicts with the demolition booking?

Ask management to reconcile the conflicting instructions in writing before relying on either document. A booking confirmation, tenant handbook and municipal condition answer different questions. The useful outcome is a current, agreed instruction for the specific activity, not a choice of whichever document permits the most work.

Identify the exact contradiction

Record the handbook clause, booking email date, location and activity affected. An elevator reservation may cover access while a separate rule limits noisy work. Avoid describing the problem as a general disagreement about hours if the real issue is unloading, an operator, protection or access to a particular floor. A precise question is easier for the responsible person to resolve.

Keep municipal conditions separate

Toronto's noise rules and any applicable exemption should be checked independently of building permission. Send management the proposed activities, not only a start and finish time. Ask which written instruction governs the elevator, loading bay and occupied corridor. The project team must review the combined conditions rather than assume a later email cancels a municipal requirement.

Issue one current instruction

Keep the resolved instruction with the shift package and identify any superseded version. Tell security and the affected trades what changed. If the conflict remains unresolved, do not describe the reservation as a confirmed demolition window. The existing elevator-booking guide covers making the reservation; this question concerns reconciling inconsistent conditions after it has been issued.
