Plan debris and handover

What should be marked on the demolition drawing at closeout?

Record the agreed removal outcome and unresolved differences against the current drawing. A closeout markup should help the next team understand what was observed and completed; it should not be presented as a certified as-built survey unless the responsible professional has provided that service.

Use the accepted revision as the base

Identify the drawing number and date, then mark the areas reviewed. Separate confirmed removal from retained components and items not inspected. Avoid marking a hidden condition as verified because it was expected from the design. The record should make its observation limits clear to the receiving party.

Reference accepted changes

Link variations to the instruction or review that authorised them. Where exposed conditions differ from the drawing, record the question and responsible reviewer rather than silently redrawing the intended design. A demolition team can document its scope without assuming responsibility for engineering or architectural certification.

Hand over a usable package

Include the current exception list, relevant photographs and the contacts responsible for remaining questions. Remove superseded copies from the working handover set while retaining them in the project history. This guide concerns the end-of-scope record; the revised-drawings guide explains how an instruction reaches the team before work. Keeping those stages distinct helps avoid treating a retrospective note as prior approval.
